SUSTAINABLE ACCESS TO SAFE WATER

Lack of safe water, adequate sanitation and good hygiene practices is directly linked to fatal diseases and conditions such as cholera and diarrhoea.

With this thinking drawn from WaterAid, the organisation has embarked on setting up a project for provision of safe water; improve sanitation and hygienic conditions in villages near Sri City, an industrial city in Tada region in Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh, benefitting around 1,07,000 people.

The project is initiated in the year 2018 with the support of the International Donor Agency ‘WaterAid’, which has its mission to transform the lives of the poorest and most marginalised people by improving access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene.

The broad objectives of the Project are to:

  • Provide access to sustainable and safe drinking water to people living in villages nearby Sri City.

  • Provide technical support and motivate the rural people for conservation of water.

  • Strengthen services, systems and capacity of institutions in the target communities to attain the objectives.

  • Improve sanitation and hygiene practices in communities.

  • Replicate success at the district-wide level through advocacy.
