Flood Relief Activities

After the unprecedented heavy rains on 18th-19th November 2021 in Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh, there arose a flood-like situation due to the overflow of rainwater in culverts, lakes, sub-surface dams, and leakage of village ponds near the operational areas of the institution in Tirupathi (Urban), Tirupathi (Rural), Ramachandrapuram and Renigunta Mandals

The organization rose to the situation and demands and has initiated a program to the extent a helping hand to as many as 7,000 affected households in the said mandals by providing:

  • Ample drinking
  • Ready-to-eat food in the afternoon and
  • Basic medical services through ANMs of the
  • Medicines for rain-prone allergies such as cold, cough, fever,
  • Awareness of precautions, child care, and hygiene.

Further, the designated staff of the organization has volunteered in helping the villagers in the removal of road blockades, water canal blockages, and basic repairs to leakages in village ponds, clearing of waterlogging in the households, etc.

The counselors of the organization have embarked on imparting awareness to the affected villagers on precautions to be taken during heavy rains, the need for hygiene practices, child care, one-ness, etc.

Later during the 1st and 2nd Weeks of December, the organization associated with the Rural Development Trust (RDT), Ananthapur, and distributed relief materials, such as Sarees, Lungis, Towels, Mats, Blankets, Soaps, etc., to as many as 5,070 identified beneficiary families in 20 villages/colonies in the Mandals of Tirupathi (Urban), Tirupathi (Rural), Ramachandrapuram, Puttur, Renigunta, Srikalahasthi, and Yerpedu. Each beneficiary family is provided with a set of 2 Sarees, 2 Lungis, 2 Towels, 2 Double-size Mats, 4 Blankets, and 4 Soaps.

The awareness and one-ness initiatives have prepared the households for the long­ term goal of making communities sustainable to address the issues being caused by the devastations and natural calamities.
